College of Food Technology, Thumburmuzhy offers Bachelor of Food Technology course. There is a growing demand for food technologists in today’s world of packaged and fast foods. Food Technologists also play an important role in food processing industries, rice mills, distilleries and packaging industries. A food technologist can grab an opportunity in FSSAI or as a Food Safety Officer, Technical Supervisors, Quality Assurance Manager, Production Manager, Laboratory Supervisor, Food Packaging Manager or as a technician in various food processing / packaging industry. A graduate in Food Technology can even be a Research Associate in premier Institutes, Universities, and Research Development Units. This programme, under the Faculty of Dairy Sciences would be the first of its kind in Kerala, which can provide qualified technologists on a long term basis to the ever growing food processing sector.

Candidates who have passed Higher Secondary Examination, Kerala, or Examinations recognized as equivalent thereto, with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects and Chemistry as one of the optional subject are eligible for admission. In case, the candidate has not studied Chemistry, the marks obtained in Computer Science shall be considered. In case, the candidate has not studied Chemistry and Computer Science the marks obtained in Biotechnology shall be considered. In case, the candidate has not studied Chemistry, Computer Science and Biotechnology the marks obtained in Biology shall be considered. The marks as shown in the mark list of the Board of Examination obtained from the respective Higher Secondary Board shall be considered for academic eligibility.
Admission to the B.Tech. (Food Technology) course is regulated by Commissioner for Entrance Examinations of Kerala (CEE) through conducting Kerala Engineering Entrance Exam (KEAM 2020).
